Lucy Frantic Releases Debut Album
When psychedelia and grunge collide
Lucy Frantic, a rock trio from Finland, has released their debut album “Buckwheat Swamp” on April 18. The band has been playing together since 2018 and previously released three singles. Their first single, “Endless Greed”, along with its animated music video, won an international IMVA award in London in 2021.
The band abandoned many modern recording techniques, opting instead to record live as a group. On “Buckwheat Swamp”, there is no click track dictating tempos, nor autotune correcting vocal imperfections. What you hear is the band in its rawest, most honest form.
Lead singer and guitarist Mr. Jones reflects on the album’s creation:
“We had already produced and carefully arranged numerous songs in the studio. But when we started playing them as a trio, reality hit. So we decided to make a rock album that could be performed live by just three people—without the arrangements falling flat. The album is straightforward rock, but we haven’t abandoned our psychedelic side. It’s in our DNA.”
The album features eight passionate and original tracks.
Drummer Masa adds:
“With this record, we went back to sweating it out in the rehearsal space. No unnecessary tricks—just creating and rocking together. Music should breathe and live, and that little sense of danger is what makes it exciting.”
